Hello, my name is John Borst; I'm 86. My partner, Ellen Henderson, is 77. She is nearly a SuperAger, too. Together, we have created this Facebook page to let those 80+ share what it is like to be a true elder in our case, Canadian society.So just what does old mean? Fifty-five, sixty, and sixty-five are all points at which some services offer age-based reductions on service fees or require a retirement click-in.At 80+, those ages all look young… really young. To a 43-year-old, I must look ancient. Perspective in aging is much like being halfway down a trail in the Grand Canyon. Looking down at the river or looking up at the rim, both seem tiny.This site is currently in development. As a friend, please send us a comment in Messenger with suggestions for improvement.
My experience so far is like being thrown into a lake when I know only the rudiments of how to keep from drowning.
When I contemplate the goals for Embracing SuperAgers, it is, at least, obvious to me that I need something more concrete, like a website on which to build “clubs.”
In 2003, a Canadian Rotarian in Mississauga, Ontario, who owned a successful software company put a team together to create a way for clubs to build a website, but, more importantly, a management system to assist in managing a club. He called his new company ClubRunner.
